GENERAL INFORMATION:

 For Sand, Sun, Beaches and Island lovers in its natural setting.
 We are Tenta Nakara,  a 16 units permanent luxury tent accommodation resort set in tropical jungle on a private white
 sand beach of Naka Yai Island, Phuket, Thailand.

 There is no electricity on the Island.
 We generate own electricity for use in our restaurant only.
 Guests will be provided with a lantern when they check in.

TENTA NAKARA OVERVIEW:

Tenta Nakara is set on 10 rais of land (about 4 acres) in Naka Yai Island, Phuket, Thailand.
The land was purchased in 2005 and was originally planned as private island get away of Chulpol Burusratanaphan and friends.
After drafting up development plan it has expanded into a small low key resort offering 16 simple and basic, tented accommodations, for oversea visitors.
Construction commences 18 July 2007 and Soft opening was launched with 5 bungalows on 1 January 2008.

THE CONCEPT

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION:
-  The designs and material selections are of local materials with simple construction methods. Hand built by local villagers.
-  Attention has been given to provide every unit with spectacular view of Phang Nga Bay and with smooth flow of natural breeze.
-  Details of all architectural designs are concentrated in providing basic comfort and to be as close to natural surrounding as possible.
-  Concrete, plastics, and other manmade materials were avoided when and wherever possible.

ELECTRICITY & CHARGERS:
-  A Diesel engine powers the 10 KW electricity generators for use during dinner hours between 6PM & 10PM.
-  Guests can reconnect with their modern world by charging their electrical equipments, cell phone, utilize our WiFi internet connection, and enjoy our restaurant music during electricity hours.
-  After 10 PM its time to completely return the premise back 100% to its natural environments. To listen to the sound of nature and the sound of your heart beat!
-  Guests are given an oil lantern as their source of light at night time. We provide, though not encouraged, battery operated fan during hot season. (Fan creates an artificial breeze and humming sound!)
-  Lantern need to be adjusted at the right level. If burning cloth are raised too much then oil will not be completely burnt and produce smoke and unpleasant smell. At right level, there should not be any smell nor smoke.

WIFI:
- We offer free WiFi to laptop users during electricity hours.

WATER:
- Fresh water is pumped from 70 meters underground through a 2.5 inches pipe by a submerge pump. It is then filtered, and stored in tanks on hill tops to allow gravity to take its course in pressuring downward to supply for usage.
- Water is automatically pumped up and stored daily during electricity hours.
- Tab and shower water are filtered through the ground and partially used for watering the garden while sewage water are treated in septic tanks before releasing it through ground infiltration.
- Please use water consciously and conservatively as it is precious on the island.

WASTE MANAGEMENT:
- Containers used for water, sodas, and beverages are mostly those made of glass and are recycled back to mainland. We avoid using plastic containers. No Plastic – Fantastic!
- Dried leaves and small branches are chopped and left to decompose with aid of EM (Effective Microorganisms) and used as fertilizers.
- Kitchen garbage is transformed to fertilizers by aid of EM in storage tanks.
- Glass, plastic, aluminum, paper are transferred to mainland for recycle.
- Grease from kitchen are trapped and buried to decompose.
- Excessive wastes are burnt in our incinerator.

GARDEN AND ORGANIC GARDEN:
- Supply of fresh, chemical free, ingredients are major obstacles to preparing clean & healthy food in our restaurant as we do not have refrigerator. Ices are brought in on daily basis to keep food fresh and drinks cold.
- Vegetable, herb, fruits, and spices are grown in our organic garden and hand picked upon order from the restaurant to ensure our ingredients are fresh and chemical free.
- Various kinds of plants are transported from Bangkok and planted. Many Thai flowers with pleasant aroma provide present smells in early morning and early evenings throughout the resort.

ANNIMAL REPELLENT MEASURES:
- We use herbal repellents not chemical pesticides that kill. We could effectively get rid of some die hard mosquitoes and termites with chemicals but we will also kill the fireflies, butterflies, crickets…etc.
- Sulfur dioxide is used on our walkways and around the bungalows to chase away poisonous snakes, scorpions, & centipedes as Sulfur dioxide will irritate their skin.
- Lubricant oil poured on cloth and tied to bungalow pillars are to protect our bungalows from ants, termites, centipedes, and scorpions…etc.
- Lubricant oil mixed with benzene is also repeatedly poured around the bathroom walls as well as usage of herbal termite repellant.
- We protect our organic garden by spraying tobacco mixed with water and also with herbal repellants.

LAUNDRY & CLEANING AGENTS
- All sheets, towels, pillow case, floor mats are sent to mainland for laundry service.
- We use all purpose cleaner made from eucalyptus essential oil for most cleaning purpose. It is environmental friendly.
- We minimize usage of cleansing chemicals for bathroom and hard to clean areas.

ROOM CLEANING (Sheets & Towels)
- Housekeepers will clean your room and change sheets, towels, and replace complimentary water every 3 nights.
- Incase of any extra cleaning please inform front desk.
- Provided towels for room use only. Beach towels are available for sale at front desk.
- Bed sheets, blankets, pillow cover, bed cover, towels are provided and are changed every 3 days. Please bring your personal Beach Towels as it gets very dirty and damaged in the past and all our laundries need to be sent to mainland. (Beach towels are available for sales in reception area.)

INTERNET:
- Computer for internet users are provided free of charge (for brief usage) in restaurant area during electricity hours.

BATTERY OPERATED FAN is provided in each bedroom with approximately 10 hours operating time. Guest are to bring down battery for recharge during electricity hours.

CHILDREN:
- While families with children are welcome, kindly mind your kid(s) to respect peace and quietness for other guests to enjoy its tranquility.

SAFE DEPOSIT are available for your small valuables at front office.
 

LOCATION

Naka Yai Island is just minutes off the North-East Coast of Phuket Island from Ao Por (Por Bay).

To get to Ao Por take route 4027 east from the Heroines’ Monument, then turn right at the sign for Ao Po about 10 kms in and follow along for a few kilometers.

NAKA ISLAND

Naka Yai Island features only one small village on its west side.  The island is rapidly changing from a fishing village into a fairly  exclusive resort location.  The views out across Phang Nga Bay are simply breathtaking.  The longest beach on the east side has chairs and umbrellas for rent.  It fills up in the afternoons with day trippers.

GETTING THERE

Once in Phuket:

Charter Taxi to Ao Por about 20 Kms. From Phuket International airport and about 30 Kms. From Phuket Town.

To get to Ao Por take route 4027 east from the Heroines’ Monument, then turn right at the sign for Ao Po about 10 kms in and follow along for a few kilometers.

Once at Ao Por:

Charter long tail boat at pier to Naka Island, Tenta Nakara at about Thb 700 per boat, one way.  Long Tail Boat will drop you off  at beach in front of Tenta Nakara.  Check water timetable for convenient in boarding and disembarking which differ every week.  Best to board at high water tide.

Tenta Nakara offer pick up service @Thb 700 per trip (1-10 passengers).  Simply make reservation or call +66-81-398-6515 for pick up.

Personal Belongings:

-      Toilet accessories. (Towels & soap provided) - please bring own beach towel.

-      Sun glasses & Sun protection cream.  (You’ll need it!)

-      Flash light (most important! – Lantern provided)

-      Sandal (most convenient)

-      Mosquito repellant (comes in handy while enjoying outdoors)

-      We have telephone service for both local and long distance calls. (Sorry, no internet)

-      Cell phone and note book chargers available at dinner time in restaurant.
